DESIGN TREND: EVENTS ARE GOING RETRO

October 21, 2021

Retro is back! Question: When a retro design or trend comes back around, how long does it need to stick around before it can drop the “retro” label? Because these 80s and 90s themed events may be here for awhile.

The 80s and 90s evoke feelings of normalcy and “the good old days” for many of us. Back when jeans were comfortable clothes and candy was pocket change. We are seeing decade themed events move away from the “roaring 20s” and into the rad and totally animated 80s and 90s. In the world of events this means color-filled celebrations with pop art throwbacks. Think neon colors, roller blading, Dance Dance Revolution, and flip phones.

So the 80s and 90s are in. So are eye-catching specialty cocktails and ping pong. Yes, ping pong! For more design trends and event fads, check out our weekly newsletter: The Column →
