Staff Spotlight: Tamara O’Malley

September 29, 2023

This month’s spotlight calls for celebration! Me et Tamara, a Director in our Boston Office.

As of September 2023, Tamara celebrates 13 years with Corinthian Events! Throughout her time with the company, Tamara has become an asset to the team and an excellent leader. In her day to day, Tamara manages both new and repeat client relationships, as well as a team of planners. She truly lives and breathes our Corinthian Events Core Values and is someone the team can always turn to for guidance on how to best bring client visions to life. Tamara juggles her multiple responsibilities like a pro and somehow stays calm, cool, and collected while doing it!

Staff Spotlights are the place to learn all about the careers, passions, and personalities of our amazing staff. You can find other staff spotlight interviews right here on our blog.

Q: What made you want to get into this industry and how did you get here?

A: I did not go to school for hospitality, and I graduated with a dual major in business and finance. My first internship was with the PGA Tour helping them with the planning details of a local tour. I enjoyed all aspects of the beginner-level planning and knew this was an industry I wanted to be a part of. I took a job in a financial office after college, though I found no joy in that field. Across the hall was a small PR firm and I started working there after hours and on weekends. I found that their work was much more in line with my passion. It was at that PR job that I met a floral designer who was looking for a full-time planner. I got the job, dove right into the role, and found my joy! Circumstances moved me to Boston where I applied for a job at Corinthian Events and the rest is history.

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Corinthian Events?

A: The repeat client relationships and the exciting opportunities to plan in new venues or with new vendors. I also love the passion in our office and the support of the Partners and our peers.

Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

A: Never settle, go after the joy.

Q: What has been your favorite moment of your events career so far?

A: Meeting up with Jamie and Jenni in the lobby of the Fairmont Copley hotel after what we thought back then was the hardest week of our careers. Knowing we did it together brought me so much joy. It’s hard to phase me anymore as I know what we have accomplished and what we can accomplish, but back then it was an incredible moment.

Q: What three words would you use to describe yourself?

A: I would describe myself as reliable, grateful, and solution minded.

Q: What do you think is the biggest challenge facing meeting and event planners today?

A: One of the biggest challenges today is finding space to breathe and time to be creative, while also keeping events fresh.

Q: What is something you are looking forward to in the coming year?

A: We have a lot of new, fresh faces at Corinthian Events, and I look forward to being a part of a well-oiled machine. I know we will have a lot of fun while working hard and it’s nice to have the vibe of a big team again.
