December 29, 2022

You may think Newport, Rhode Island is solely a summer destination, but we’re here to tell you that Newport is always in season! You can still experience all the city has to offer even as the weather gets colder. Here are our top things to do in Newport during the winter months.

1 . Ice Skating at Newport Harbor Island Resort

As soon as the temperature drops, the North Lawn of the Newport Harbor Island Resort transforms into a winter wonderland with an ice-skating rink and pop-up igloos. This is the perfect spot to enjoy the winter season with a gorgeous view of the Newport Harbor as your backdrop. Make sure to visit before the ice rink closes at the end of February! The Chanler Hotel at Cliff Walk offers gourmet hot chocolate from their hot chocolate bar on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 PM, starting on February 11, and running through March 2, 2023. Warm beverages are crafted with the world’s finest chocolate and are available to be paired with alcohol. Stop by The Chanler to grab your very own cup of cocoa and take a winter stroll along the Cliff Walk while you’re there!

5 . Specialty Museums

Pair a history lesson with fascinating works of art by visiting one of Newport’s specialty museums. Home to the Audrain Automobile Museum, Newport Art Museum, Tennis Hall of Fame, and more, Newport has a variety of intriguing exhibits for its guests. Whether you are looking to learn about the greatest tennis champions, view some of the world’s rarest automobiles, or immerse yourself in Newport’s art and culture, there is something for you to enjoy!

6 . Shopping and Dining at Bowen’s Wharf
