Talk about inspiration!
Megan Woonton, Senior Account Manager, and Claudia Hankowski, Account Manager, at Corinthian Events had their minds blown at The Special Event 2018 Conference in NOLA. From mouth-watering beignets to wizard of oz inspired living statues, the city and the conference came together to excite, delight and elicit our top 5 design trends for 2018.
2018 Design Forecast:
The staying power of marble is obvious and with print technology ever developing we already see it on unexpected materials such as fabrics. Don't be surprised if you see marbled patterns infused with different color schemes.
Patterns have been emerging in full force and will continue to gain popularity. The most exciting uses of geometric patterns will be bigger and bolder. Eye-catching tribal patterns are also being incorporated into linens and large installations.
Soft and luxurious – printed or solid – bring velvet into your design for a sophisticated touch. Watch for velvet in fun colors and in soft seating options – not just linens!
4. Lavish Balloon Installations
We don't mean the supermarket kind. Expect to see even more large scale trailing artistic balloon installations as statement pieces. Perhaps balloon installations will be used to lead guests from one room to another.
5. Virtual Reality
VR is going to continue to permeate and elevate the event world. Emerging tech is beginning to offer planners a way to allow their clients to 'walk the space' virtually and edit the floorplan on the fly.
So those are our predictions... Want to see more of the amazing conference? Here are some highlights from the Wizard of Oz themed blowout final celebration.
Entering the Emerald City | Dancing Tin Man | Band Performance
Big Brother Big Sister of Massachusetts Bay's Big Night is an annual celebration and fundraiser to support the mission of BBBS, to help children realize their potential and build their futures. Corinthian Events has been working with the team at BBBS to create this incredible evening for many years and we are excited to announce that this year's Big Night, Under the Big Top, has raised over $1.8 million!

Under the Big Top, this year's vintage circus theme, brought together turn of the century circus and performance with aerialists, a strong man and even a contortionist. Further entertainment by Misterwives, Saint Motel and Matoma offered a juxtaposition with an incredible light and laser show incorporated into the production.
A variety of textured linens with dramatic deep burgundy along with rich reds and glittering golds offered an elegant setting for twinkling orbs, floral arrangements, votives and tall faux wax candles.
An artistic take on a traditional striped circus tent, suspended from winches, was a huge hoop held up with sections of fabric. Along with vintage bulbs at various heights. Each bulb raised and lowered independently from one another, creating additional interest.
Print collateral including menus, table signs, directional signs and large cut-out signs all coordinated with the Save the Date and Invitation received by guests and played perfectly with the décor selection offering a more cohesive feel for the evening.

The Catered Affair provided food stations and delectable passed hors d'oeuvres and small plates for the evening. Additional delicious offerings also were kindly donated by Woods Hill Table and B&G Oysters for the evening.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed additional activities including a LIVE Zoltar fortune teller and a custom branded claw machine where they could try to win adorable stuffed animals with custom Big Night tags on their necks. Two lucky guests also received special grand prizes.
Clusters of vintage suitcases flanked a vintage couch in our photo booth corner. A bright red crush curtain and 5' side custom shape Big Night sign added the perfect backdrop to guest photos.
Just like the ring master pulls together his circus, as did the décor, entertainment, and food come together to present this year's Big Night in all its festive glory. Congrats to the team at BBBS for a wonderful evening and thank you to all the guests for making this Big Night a spectacle to remember.
